Lucy Go Bragh

My co-worker Susannah lives on the route of the B.R. St. Patrick's Day parade, and she invited us to join the annual parade party at their Garden District house.  She and her husband are the ultimate hosts -- fun personalities, great food (Stewart was the kitchen manager at our church for years), and gracious.  I always enjoy spending time with them and their family.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous, so we brought Lucy out to enjoy her very first parade!  I'm not so sure she knew what to think about all of the noise (screaming crowds, music on floats, and marching bands), but... she loved all the jewelry and the snacks, especially the brownies.  She's already a bling and chocolate kind of a girl!!!  We're already looking forward to doing it again next year.

Super Saturday!

Last Saturday was a bit of a whirlwind -- jammed pack full of fun activities and shuffling all across town.  We started off the day with Lucy playing beauty shop with Daddy while watching "Sesame Street."  Hmmm... looks to me like they both need to get their hair did.

Then we met up with our old friends, the Chaneys, at Frank's Restaurant for an early breakfast.  They were in town for a family 80th birthday celebration, and it was a big treat for us to be able to share a little time with them during a busy weekend on the road.  Candace and I have been friends since were 14 years old and it is absolutely amazing to now see our children playing together.  She's due with her third baby right now, and our due dates are only about 5 weeks apart.  I hope our new little ones will have the opportunity to get to know each other as they grow.

Anna Grace took a quick liking to Lucy.

Lucy with her baby, Anna Grace with her blankie, and Zeke with his truck ~ I love it!

You can't especially tell I'm pregnant here, what with the dark shirt and the bulky maternity bathing suit on underneath, but Candace's perfectly round pregnant belly is just adorable!

After breakfast, we headed to our second year of Water Babies swim lessons at the Y.  Lucy loves it, but we still need a little bit more practice -- she still likes to swallow the water instead of blowing bubbles in it.  She also has no fear and likes to lunge herself into the water whenever possible.  Yikes!

We finished up our day with a trip to Lowe's to get new countertops.  We're finally getting the chance to replace the faded yellow, cracked laminate counter we've lived with for the better part of three years, and I'm SO excited.  Lucy spent the excursion climbing underneath the sinks of all the model cabinets and "hiding" behind the doors.  Then we went to Sears to grab our new cooktop (double yeah!), and... I ended up in tears of exhaustion by the time we got home.  Note to self -- the Mall of Louisiana is always a bad idea on a Saturday afternoon, but it's especially bad when you're pregnant, have been going all day, and haven't had a nap in months.  Someday I'll learn.  :)

Dancing queen

This is how I know that Andrew adores Lucy -- he learned the "Elmo's World" song on his guitar just for her. She'll dance to pretty much anything right now, but this song ranks way up there on her current favorites list. And to even further demonstrate his devotion to making her smile, he usually sings the lyrics, too (he was just being shy for the camera).

Watching these two together makes my heart so happy.
