Lucy's finally mastered pushing up on her forearms and looking around, as well as being able to roll from back to tummy and back again. Our girl is a highly curious creature, and I'm afraid it won't be too much longer before she's crawling and we have to watch her like a hawk. I seriously cannot believe she's already 7-mos-old. Sigh...

MLK Day at the park
After a series of some rough spots last week (Lucy's daycare tuition is increasing, I got some unpleasant medical news, Andrew's school is getting taken over by the state and he may not have a job next year), we were all pretty happy to have some reinforcements over the weekend and to have an extra day off of work to relax before getting back into our routine. Boogie and Pop Pop came down from Shreveport to visit Lucy and help out, and as an added bonus they were able to deliver the house Santa brought Lucy at Christmas. THANK YOU!!!
They headed home on Sunday & we were able to enjoy a fun family day with icees at the park (a little hidden neighborhood treasure I recently discovered while driving around to let Lucy keep sleeping in the car seat rather than wake her up by bringing her inside!). She's still a tad bit too small for the baby swings, but she doesn't seem to mind -- she was all smiles and squeals when we got her going in that thing! :) Lucy's love of the outdoors is a great reminder for me to get some fresh air every day and hopefully will aid in Team Powers' goal to get more exercise in the new year.
P.S. Like our new hairdo? Our "chicken hair" is finally getting long enough for hair bows, much to Daddy's dismay.

Open mouth, insert spoon
The way that Lucy inhales her solid food induces much laughter around here when it's time to eat nowadays. She seems to think it's necessary to open her jaw as wide as it can possibly go in order for the baby-sized spoon to actually fit in. It's pretty hilarious because if she even thinks that food is anywhere near she will stretch open her mouth in the hope that something might happen to fall in. We are also highly impatient if chef Mommy causes a delay in the food delivery.
I'm happy to report that Lucy's a big fan of every single type of baby food we've tried so far -- squash, pears, sweet potatoes, peaches, green beans, sweet peas, bananas, prunes... It seems that our little piglet is just not all that particular!
